Aims


Publications, articles and monographic documents related with the European convergence process in higher education.

Collaboration with national and public bodies in the diffusion of the European construction process and in the strategic promoted by governments.

Give continuity to the process purposed to obtain the status of Active Body of the European Union to Society and Education.

Carry out the Strategic Plan for the Education European Network (E.E.N.) of Society and Education.

Develop reports for the European Parliament as a consequence of the inclusion of Society and Education into the group of entities called to base recommendations and guidelines in educational matters of the European Union.

Establishment of alliances with foundations, associations, organisms and entities at European level.

Encourage participation in the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Commission.

European Education Network


The Education European Network is organized and coordinated by the Institute of Educative and Social Studies (Research Department of the European Foundation Society and Education). It pursues the strengthening of European cooperation in education experience exchange, and the sharing of good practices.

It operates in four fields:

INSTITUTIONAL FIELD. To connect Entities and Organizations interested in promoting the Education in democratic societies, through cooperation in broadcasting the Society & Education aims in the Member States.

THEMATIC FIELD. To propose teachers and investigators participate in research lines of the Institute of Educative and Social Studies, which are structured around concrete issues for sharing ideas, proposals, projects, works and methodologies. Currently, there is a specific net which is articulated around the study of the Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights, designated as, Education and Citizenship.

RESEARCH FIELD. Connect professors and experts in the research fields of the Institute of Educational and Social Studies.

FIELD OF PROJECTS. To offer the associated organizations (members of research teams, universities, educative centres, associations …) the opportunity to take part in the coordinated projects by Society & Education to apply for financed programs of the European Commission.

Within the framework of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008, Society and Education elaborated a Declaration of Principles.

Society and Education has participated in the Conference on Decentralisation and Municipalisation and on the role of Local Authorities and Autonomy of Schools in Education. Lisbon (Portugal). 14–15 december.

Society and Education has submitted the Project EACEA30/07 “Contribution to the aims at European level of the Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008” before the European Commission. November 2007.

Participation in the meeting of the “Diversity, Migration and Integration Interest Group (DMIIG)” of the European Foundation Centre (EFC) in Bochum, Germany (17-18 April).



Organization of a work team for strategic adivse about internationalisation of universities.

“Improving School Leadership” was the topic of the OECD’s Final International Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, which Society and Education attended as an expert organization (14-15 April).

Organization of a work team about the future model of university in Europe.

Participation in the Seminar Quasi mercati, partnershio e reti per la governance dei sistema educativi. Organised by University of Bologna, Fondazione Alma Mater. (Bologna, February 2007)

Society and Education took part in the International Seminary about the right to education to revise the indicators of the UNESCO, Boston University (2-5 abril).


The strategy defined in Lisbon (March, 2000), the challenge of Bologna for Higher Education, the specific objectives for educative and training systems, the recommendations about social cohesion, integration and European citizenship that facilitate access to lifelong Education, have been narrowed several lines of analysis which reinforce the dialogue achieved in Europe by Society & Education.
